Headed up to Austin, TX in the early afternoon. I was gonna attend Bloodshots. More on that later. I got into town and first stopped off at Best Buy to cruise the new DVDs. The night before, I was listening to the DVD Talk Radio Podcast. It was an interview with Kevin Smith. They were talking about the upcoming Clerks II and An Evening With Kevin Smith II DVDs. Unfortunately, they're still a couple weeks from being released. There wasn't anything else on the shelves I've been currently jones'n for, so time for some lunch.
I made my way to A La Carrera. It's a local Austin Tex-Mex restaurant that I haven't been too in awhile. The place is lite on customers and I settled down to have my old reliable. You can't go wrong with beef stuffed quesadillas. I just wish they would stop with the little chunks of carrots in the rice. Enough, already! As I'm a couple bites from finishing, I it a call from my friend, Frank. When I tell him where I'm at, I can hear the sadness in his voice. That's what he gets for waiting several hours to call me back.
I get done with my catnap and get ready to head downtown. Frank has to stay put. Again, he's low on funds and is starting a new job the next day. The new job is actually at a previous company which is also the same company I worked for, twice and finally got away from. Oh...the ups and downs of the tech industry. Let's move forward shall we. I get into my favorite place to buy music, Waterloo Records. Yes, I drive out of town to Austin to buy my music. It's one of the excuses I keep using to go back to Austin. There's several new albums I want, but I settle on the latest from The S-O-V. That would be Lady Sovereign for the uninformed out there. I skip on also getting any new concert tickets. I still haven't made up my mind for the month of December.
Finally, I made my way to the downtown Alamo Drafthouse. This is the original Alamo Drafthouse where is all started a decade ago. Tonight is the 2006 fall edition of Bloodshots: Best-Of Screening. You can find out about the Bloodshots film competition and watch the films on the official website.
It was a bloody good show.
