For the 79th Annual Academy Awards, I attended the sold out 9th Annual RED CARPET BASH! at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown. Actually, the Oscars tv party was happening at three of the Alamo Drafthouses. As early as 5PM, people were already lined up at the door. Yes, that includes me. The wait was short and soon the doors opened. In the main lobby, there was a strip of red carpet and a table of champagne.
The nights festivities were hosted by Owen and Jodi Egerton. Owen pointed out they are not related by blood. We had ballot sheets to pick our own winners. There was also a Oscar bingo card. Somebody won that thing early. There were also prize giveaways, drink specials, a dance off, and sing-a-long. During the commercial breaks, special videos of previous embarrassing moments from several of the nominees were shown. Let's just say, I don't want to ever seen Clint Eastwood sing again.
I won't bore you with a recap of all the winners. That being said, I pretty much, heavily agreed with the choices that were made.

Let the truth be told. When Donnie Darko was originally released, I did not see it. When it came out on DVD, I did not buy it. Whenever it was on cable, I would not watch it. I've never had anything against the movie. It's just that it had been sitting towards the bottom my to-do list.
This past Saturday night I finally saw Donnie Darko. It was at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown. This version was actually the director's cut. Not only that, both James Duval and and makeup FX artist Thom Surprenant were there in attendance. Yes, I enjoyed the movie and at some point it will be added to my DVD collection. Let me also state, Jame Duval is what you would call "good people". You could see he was genuinely excite to be there showing a movie he personally loves. It was his first time visiting the Alamo Drafthouse. He was quite amazed by the whole concept and idea of the theater. It was also really great talking with James. He was quite taken by the theater, the city of Austin and it's people. On several occasions (once to me) James said "I'm kind of feeling like I need to move to Austin".
Here's a little anecdote from the night's event. I'm waiting in line to talk with James Duval. It's after the screening and it's around 1AM. Off to the side, I see Harry Knowles whip out his cell phone and call some one up. He goes over to James and hands him the phone. Remember, it's a hour after midnight. I see a smile shoot across James's face as he starts talking. The short version of the phone call goes roughly like this;
"Hey, man!"
"Oh yeah, I heard about that."
"You have got to screen your movie for me."
"Hold on..."
James stands up on the chair he was on, holds up the phone and announces to everyone "I'm on the phone with Richard Kelly". Richard Kelly is the director of Donnie Darko. James asks us to tell Richard how much he rocks and we all shout out.
So there you have. It could be 1AM in the morning and Harry Knowles can just call up which movie director he feels like.
I took both photos and videos. Enjoy.

I was afraid the taste of the "greens" would be a bit much, so I add a banana and more milk. It's almost no sugar and packed with nutrients. I'm gonna have to get use to the taste.
1 banana
1 & 1/4 cup of fat free milk
1 packet of Biochem Sports' 100% Greens & Whey Protein Powder chocolate flavored
You need adequate protein to build muscle. 100% Greens & Whey powder contains 100% pure Ultra-Filtered/Micro-Filtered (UF/MF) Whey Protein Isolate. The Micro-Filtration method isolates the natural whey proteins in a highly concentrated form without fat or lactose providing the quickest and most easily absorbed form of protein- no bloating, gas or stomach upset. High BCAA levels send fuel directly to your muscles while supporting positive nitrogen balance for muscle growth.
Adequate nutrition keeps the body healthy. The 100% Greens & Whey blend provides phytonutrients which offer the purest form of nutrition.
Free radicals are a side effect of exercise. They are formed when oxygen interacts with other molecules-- endurance exercise can increase oxygen utilization over a resting state. Free radicals lead to cell damage in the body tissue including muscle. Antioxidants are nature’s defense against these agents. Your body has a defense system of antioxidants that neutralize free radicals. Help build that defense with our Proprietary Organics Greens Blend which provides strong antioxidant support.
Organic Alfalfa Leaf Juice Powder and Organic Barley Grass Juice Powder are rich in chlorophyll and along with other nutrients play an important role in supporting the digestive processes and nutrient assimilation.
Hawaiian Spirulina draws nutrients from Pacific deep water. No other Spirulina is grown with such a rich nutrient source. It is highly digestible and provides a wide range of delicate phytonutrients which play an important role in helping the body combat environmental stressors.
Organic Sun Chlorella, Organic Broccoli Sprout and Sea Buckthorn also provide excellent nutrient sources.***NO: Yeast, corn, wheat, gluten, preservatives, artificial color, artificial flavor or artificial sweeteners.
