Ratatouille: Official Site | IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | Wikipedia
Tomorrow, Friday June 29th, Ratatouille opens nationwide. I've spoken about this great movie, but it must be done again. Are you an animation fan? See this movie. Do you like comedies? See this movie. Do you like romantic comedies? See this movie. Mom and dad, take the kids, they're gonna love it and so will you. Further below, I've reposted my original entry I made attending a preview screening, a couple weeks ago.

This past Monday evening, the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown and Ain't It Cool News held a sneak preview of Ratatouille. This is the latest movie from the Brad Bird (The Incredibles) and the master minds at Pixar. Patton Oswalt is the voice of the lead rat character "Remy" and Janeane Garolfalo is the voice "Colette". Yes, that French voice is coming from Janeane who didn't even realize she was playing a French character until she started recording. Hang on, let's back up for a second.
First, there was a cool personal video message from director, Brad Bird. Next was pre-teaser trailer for Pixar's next movie called Wall-E. Next was the awesome Pixar short Lifted. This was the second time I got see it up on screen and it still killed me.
Back to Ratatouille. Go see this movie. Do you remember how incredible The Incredibles was? Rataouille is that incredible. This movie is well written, wonderfully voiced, visually gorgeous, and damn funny. Oh the water effects. I think this is probably the first CG movie where the creators said "damnit, we want real looking water for our animated movie". Theres too much to talk about. For now, enjoy the trailers and a 9-minute preivew.

From: Rusty / SomaFM: Extremely Independent Internet Radio
Date: June 26, 2007 4:30:57 AM CDT
Subject: Internet Radio Day of SilenceSomaFM is observing a day of silence today, Tuesday, June 26th. We join
thousands of other internet radio stations who have turned off the music
in protest over theridiculously high new royalties that internet radio
must pay to play music.I know that you know all this, and I appreciate your support of SomaFM.
I just wanted to let you know what's up.Most of our channels are running a 30 minute program that features
sounds from the SanFrancisco "Bart" transit system. It's like taking a
virtual ride on the subway in San Francisco interspersed with
announcements about the royalty situation. So we're trying to make it a
little fun.And Elise from Indie Pop Rocks is going to be ranting all day about this
issue on Indie Pop Rocks as well, so if you don't want to read all about
the royalty issue, you can listen to her discuss it on Indie Pop Rocks. The music will be back at 12:01am pacific time on Wednesday, June 27th.
Thanks for your patience.Remember,
SomaFM loves you!

I finally got around to buying a HD camcorder. My first camcorder. After reading a lot of online reviews, I choose the Canon HV20. I'd been checking (still) into the new AVCHD format. The current problem with AVCHD seems to be it's just not quite ready for prime time both in terms of the compression and post production software support. Get off your ass, Apple! It may be a week or so before I get some video online. For now, have a look at the following items.
C|Net.com's Canon HV20 review - Disregard their comments about the HV20's low-light performance. The following two articles from Camcorderinfo.com pretty much sold me.
Camcorderinfo.com's Canon HV20 review
Camcorderinfo.com's The Great HD Shoot-Out featuring the Canon HV20, Sony HDR-HC7, Panasonic HDC-SD1, JVC GZ-HD7
Canon has two sample HD videos showcasing the HV20's "normal" and "24P" modes

A couple weeks back, I posted an entry about attending the a preview of Ratatouille, which opens June 29th.
Here's a funny "half" animated video interview with Janeane Garofalo. The dude in the video is film critic/director Korey Coleman, out of Austin, TX.
Janeane Garofalo interview:
What's it all about? - Talks about doing a voice for ‘Ratatouille’ - and I reveal my love for her.

Day Watch: Official Site | IMDB | Rotten Tomatoes | Wikipedia
Yesterday evening, I finally got around to seeing Day Watch. It fucking rocks! It's the sequel to Night Watch, which I also love. Both movies are based on novels written by Sergei Lukyanenko. Before I forget, I just want to mention the fact that Russian women are hot. The concept is wicked cool, characters are great. The action is better than several Hollywood movies. What's not to love about a car driving on the side of a building? The Russian CGI effects still get the job done. Did I already mention the Russian women? The pacing and drama in this movie is what Spider-Man 3 should have been. My only complaint is, they went easy on the subtitle effects when compared to the first movie. This is one of those cool ass movies that needs to be seen on the big screen.
